Saving Data When Online.

Using the internet is fun and a very interesting way to work, but all good things come at a price and the very limit to which we can use the internet is very dependent on the amount of data that is available to us, this means that the more data we have the more we can use the internet and the less data that we have the limited period that is available to us to use the internet.
For persons that don’t usually have access to unlimited data or Wi-Fi connectivity there might be a great need to limit and conserve the amount of data that is available to us, so in this way we will be more efficient in using the data that is available to us.
When using the internet there are some things that can be done consciously to reduce the amount of data that is used online, it might be; reducing the time spent on a page to closing some unnecessary things that can be found there on the page. For some of the following tips in data saving there might be a need to do some extra sacrifice in order to gain something bigger.
The most volatile assert that is available to an internet user is internet data because it is very expensive to get but very easy to finish, so in this way it can take 1 week to get and take only 1hr to finish, so we can either control how it works from using it slowly to using it all at once.
The ways available in being able to conserve internet data when using the internet has been born out through experience and has proven a worthy method in the long run, but as I stated earlier it require an extra sacrifice in order for this method to be worthwhile.
The article will generally be divided into three parts:
[ ] Saving Data On The Internet.
[ ] Saving Data On Your Laptop/Pc OS (Windows).
[ ] Saving Data On Your Smartphone.

SAVING DATA ON THE INTERNET.
When using the internet directly there are some little tips that can be employed so as to make better use of the internet data that we have available to us, and also to be more conservative. Some of these methods include:

Ads (Pop Up Adverts)
The internet these days are filled with a lot of pop-up adverts, which can pop up from anywhere and to anywhere, from opening up a new page in a new tab or a new window, to requesting for pop up notification or requesting you to download an app and so on, apart from the security risk that some of these ads present they also use data for them to function and they can take as much data as they want before you will even realized that they are there, so to prevent these from happening you will have to be very vigilant and sensitive to these changes when you are browsing. Some tips here that will help:
1. Always watch out for tabs that automatically opens up on its own, check the title; if it was not initiated by you or if you suspect it is an ad then close it immediately to stop it from loading.
2. When you click on a page that is embedded with the pop-up ad script watch out were the ad will open up (a new tab or a new window) then close it immediately.
3. Try to use ad blocker when browsing to prevent ads that runs in the background from consuming your data.
4. (This has to do with self-control) Try not to be too curious into clicking ads that you see on some pages like “how to burn 100kg fat in 1hr” these most times are just to draw your attention:
A. They sometimes don’t usually contain what they say.
B. The destination page might contain a lot of pictures and videos that will burn your data out very fast.
C. They might contain a lot of other ads that will further distract you.
D. It might just be a phishing site.

Videos/Pictures.
Another good internet data black hole are pictures and videos, on a site there is nothing that uses up data more than these two on a site because they download automatically and might just finish your data before you realised what you are trying to browse at that page. So, to prevent these from finishing up your data these are methods you might to employ.
1. When you enter a page scroll around to see if there are any videos embedded there, if there are pause it immediately, since videos only buffer to a certain point and stop, so in this way you will save your self from watching the whole video.
2. It is better to download a video than streaming it (unless you have unlimited data) so that in the event when you need to rewind, fast forward or watch it again you won’t have to spend data to do that.
3. For site with a lot of pictures. You can turn off images (if you don’t need the pictures) and focus only on the text and links contained there if that is only what you need there.
4. You can reduce the zoom of the page or set it to mobile view to reduce the resolutions of the pictures that are been loaded thus reducing the data that is been used to do that.
5. (YouTube users) Before you download a video from YouTube try to check the middle and the end of the video even if just for 10secs at each stage, this is to make sure that the video that you are about to download is the original one and it is also complete, so that you won’t waste everything on the wrong video. And if you about to watch or download a video that the sound is more important than the graphics, then you can download the lower quality video, since you are only interested in the audio part of the video.

General Surfing.
1. If you need to get a simple answer about something; instead of going into a website just check the question on google and see if you can find the answer among the google tips that will be provided there.
2. When you are searching pictures on google image don’t scroll down too fast so as to avoid many pictures from loading, just check the ones that have been loaded first before scrolling to check the others.

3. When you go into some sites to download (like softonic) you will see many links there that are saying “download here”; some of them are adverts links so try your best to identify the original link so that you won’t waste your time browsing back and forth the website.
